HOW TO SET UP A PEARL FOUNDATION LRC

1. Make sure you have reviewed the conditions and can live with them.

2. BEFORE YOU SPEND ANY MONEY, send an e-mail query to merch@janisian.com . This is the first step in determining whether Janis will be able to do this, so please include the following information:
Address where the living room concert will be held (we need at least city, state or province, and country)
Name of person organizing the concert
Contact details for that person; phone numbers (work, home, mobile) and e-mail address.
Preferred month (and preferred date, though we warn you that this is usually not possible as we attempt to route LRC's around Janis' other performance scheduling to hold down your costs)
Reason for the LRC, if any (anniversary, birthday), and whether it is a surprise

3. Someone from our organization will get back to you quickly and tell you whether any of this is feasible.

4. From there, you will pay for the concert through check, money order, cashier's check, or cash. (*You can pay by credit card on line, but your card will be charged to Revenge Touring, which is NOT tax-deductible. We will provide you with a tax letter on Pearl Foundation stationary thanking you, which you may use in support of your claim for deductibility.)

5. The check will be deposited in the Pearl Foundation attorney's escrow account, and held in escrow until the concert is over.

6. We will contact you a month or two before the concert to discuss details (eg when Janis will arrive at the LRC, any special song requests you may have etc.)

From there, it's smooth sailing!!


* Please note: Janis and her crew truly do need to stay in a hotel or motel; they cannot stay in private homes. Janis is more than happy to greet your guests at the door, arrive unannounced for a surprise, etc. We strongly suggest you hold the concert before dinner, if you are having a formal dinner affair. Janis and her crew will not be able to stay for dinner, sorry!

LRC CONDITIONS

* Living Room Concert will take place within 1 year of purchase within the continental United States; for dates outside the continental US, in Alaska, or in Hawaii, show to take place within 2 years. Purchaser is required to provide three hotel rooms the night before or night of the LRC for Janis and her crew. If Janis is not planning to tour in the country or city of your concert, and cannot route it around her tour schedule, you may be required to provide two round trip coach class airfares as well in order to save expenses for the foundation, or gasoline expenses if Janis is driving. (Use of airline mileage is acceptable, but must be coordinated with us.)
Show will be coordinated with Janis' tour schedule whenever possible; we will work with you to find a mutually agreeable date. (This enables us to route the show next to other paying shows in the same area, so travel and/or hotel costs are minimized.)
Purchaser may not sell tickets to this event or charge participants in any way, nor distribute copies of this show to any entity without specific written permission. Purchaser must be willing to sign a contract to this and various other effects before this event can take place. Violation of this clause will result in cancellation of the concert with no prejudice to the rights of Janis Ian or The Pearl Foundation; in the event of such a violation, all monies will be kept by the Pearl Foundation and no refund will be accorded.
A maximum of 40 people may be invited, including those living in the household. We reserve the right to coordinate this with your local public radio station, who may wish to record and broadcast the show later. Additionally, we reserve the right to take appropriate security measures to ensure the safety of the artist and her staff. We reserve the right, in our sole judgement, to refuse any offers, without explanation or obligation.
